As part of the National Digital Health strategy, the Australian Government is going to create health records for all Australians (unless you opt out). These records will contain all of your health information and will be available to health professionals who work in places connected to My Health Record.
Operated by the Australian Digital Health Agency, My Health Record is designed to help strengthen eHealth governance. Your record will hold test results, surgery information, referral letters, prescribed medications and discharge summaries if you’ve ever spent any time in hospital.
We think it’s going to create some interesting opportunities for health but naturally – as with anything new introduced into a big, complex system – there will be a teething period.
